About YH Equestrian

The Face Behind The Business

My name is Yasmin Hodgson and I am the owner of YH Equestrian.
Some of you may recognise me from my other successful equestrian business TheraPlate Cumbria & The Borders. For those who don’t I thought I would add some background knowledge so you know who is behind YH Equestrian.
I have worked in the Equestrian Industry for many years and have extensive knowledge and experience throughout all equine disciplines. I have been lucky enough to work for some top class riders which has allowed me to gain some valuable connections & experience.
From leaving school, I completed a level 2 national diploma in horse management. Following this, I continued my training and completed a NVQ level 3 Diploma in Horse Care & Management at a high level dressage yard based in Buckinghamshire.
I then went out to groom in the UK for many different riders, working in Eventing, Dressage and Hunting yards. Being so passionate about my job enabled me to work myself up the ranks to reach my goals. I groomed for around 10 years and will be forever grateful for the chance to work with some fantastic riders and horses. Eventing was definitely a favourite of mine and I managed to work for Jonty Evans before heading to Somerford Park to become Ben Hobday’s Manager. I was extremely lucky to have been offered these opportunities working for such talented riders with some world class horses. Not only did I learn lots of hands on experience but also a lot about running successful businesses.

Starting YH Equestrian

Towards the end of 2017, I decided to go solo and set up YH Equestrian, my very busy Equestrian events business. Based in the North of England, I specialising in organising equestrian camps with top class riders within the equestrian industry. I decided to do this because I love training with my own horse and wanted to bring more events to the area.
Going fully self employed was a very scary decision for me and something I had dreamed about for quite a long time before making the actual jump.
I am now 6 years down the line and so proud of what I have achieved to this point. I have created a successful business with clients returning year after year. I have expanded the business to offer new venues and more camps and I enjoy welcoming new clients each year.
In 2024 we are holding 14 camps in total at great venues and with fabulous coaches. Please head to the Camp page to check them out!
